Risk & Compliance Lawyer
A leading international law firm is looking to hire a Risk & Compliance Lawyer into its London Office of General Counsel.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer with at least two years' post-qualification fee-earning experience to move into, or further develop within, a broad in-house risk and compliance role. The position would suit someone coming from a global law firm environment who is looking for a move away from fee earning into a role that offers a strong mix of regulatory compliance, professional ethics, data privacy and internal advisory work.
Working closely with the Deputy General Counsel and wider OGC team, you will advise on matters including SRA Standards and Regulations, firm policies, professional ethics, GDPR and wider data protection issues. The role will also involve reviewing and updating internal policies and guidance, assisting with compliance processes and regulatory filings, supporting data privacy projects and international data transfers, advising on client and supplier documentation including NDAs and data processing agreements, and contributing to training, horizon-scanning and knowledge management across the function.
This is a varied and visible position requiring strong communication skills, sound judgement, discretion and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced international environment. Risk and compliance experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. The firm is open to lawyers currently in fee-earning roles who can clearly demonstrate an interest in this area and the transferable skills needed to succeed.
Applicants should be qualified solicitors in England & Wales, or qualified in another jurisdiction and willing to qualify in England & Wales, with a minimum of two years' experience gained in a global law firm. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, a collaborative approach and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders across an international business.
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly regarded firm in a role that offers breadth, quality and a genuine long-term alternative to private practice.
