Legal Project Manager
We are working with a leading international law firm that is looking to recruit a Legal Project Manager to support its Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice in London.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with lawyers and being directly involved in the management and delivery of complex, high-value legal matters.
Legal Project Management has become an increasingly important part of how international law firms operate, particularly within disputes practices where matters can involve large teams, significant volumes of information, demanding clients and constantly evolving priorities.
Our client is looking for someone who understands these challenges and can bring structure, commercial awareness and practical solutions to the way matters are managed.
Working closely with partners, associates and wider business services teams, you'll become a trusted adviser to the practice, helping lawyers plan, resource and deliver their matters as effectively as possible.
The role goes well beyond simply maintaining project plans and tracking deadlines. You'll be involved in understanding how matters are progressing, identifying potential challenges, managing resources and finding opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising the quality of client service.
You'll work directly with legal teams and, where appropriate, clients, helping to establish clear expectations around timelines, deliverables, budgets and reporting. There will also be a strong focus on resource management, including ensuring that paralegals and junior lawyers are allocated effectively according to the needs and demands of individual matters.
An important part of the position will involve reviewing existing ways of working and identifying where processes could be improved. This might involve introducing more effective project management tools, streamlining workflows, improving reporting or working with colleagues across the business to develop more efficient approaches to matter delivery.
The firm is also continuing to explore how technology and AI can support its lawyers, so there will be opportunities to contribute to innovation initiatives and identify practical ways these tools could improve the delivery of legal services.
We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who already have experience managing legal projects within a law firm or professional services environment.
You'll need to be comfortable working with senior lawyers and clients, managing competing priorities and influencing people who may have different approaches to project management. An understanding of the pressures involved in delivering complex litigation or arbitration matters would be particularly valuable.
Experience managing legal resources, including paralegals and junior lawyers, would also be highly relevant, as would a background in project reporting, financial oversight, process improvement and legal technology.
A formal project management qualification would be welcomed, although practical experience and the ability to build relationships across a legal practice will be equally important.
What makes this opportunity especially attractive is the level of involvement you'll have with the practice. This isn't a position sitting on the sidelines of legal matters; you'll be working alongside the lawyers, helping shape how projects are delivered and contributing to the wider development of Legal Project Management within the firm.
You'll also be joining an established, internationally connected business management function, offering the opportunity to work with colleagues across different practice groups and jurisdictions.
For someone who enjoys the operational and commercial side of legal services, and wants to play a meaningful role in improving how complex matters are delivered, this could be an excellent next step.
If you're currently working in Legal Project Management, or have closely related experience within legal operations or matter delivery, we'd be very interested to hear from you.
