Senior Legal Operations Consultant - 12-Month Contract

UK&I - London
Permanent
£51k to £100k

We are working on an excellent interim opportunity for an experienced Legal Operations professional to support the in-house legal function of a major international business operating within the mining and natural resources sector.

Our client is looking for a commercially minded Legal Operations generalist who can work confidently across a broad range of operational responsibilities, supporting the effective delivery of legal services across a complex international organisation.

This is a senior-level assignment requiring someone who can take ownership, work independently and build effective relationships with senior legal and business stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring broad legal operations experience, with responsibilities likely to include:

  • Supporting the development and optimisation of legal operations processes, systems and workflows.
  • Working with legal technology and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through digital solutions and automation.
  • Supporting legal financial management, including budgets, reporting, spend analysis and cost controls.
  • Coordinating external counsel and legal supplier relationships, including performance and cost management.
  • Supporting change management initiatives and operational improvement projects within the legal function.
  • Preparing management information, reports, presentations and communications for senior stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively with legal leadership and wider business teams to implement operational priorities and improvements.

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • Substantial legal operations experience, ideally gained within an in-house legal function or similarly complex legal environment.
  • Broad knowledge spanning legal technology, financial management, process improvement and external counsel management.
  • Experience delivering operational change and implementing improvements across legal teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with senior leadership.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to operate independently.
  • Availability to commence an interim assignment at short notice.

Experience within a large international organisation would be advantageous, although we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate the breadth of experience required.

This is a full-time, 12-month assignment commencing in early November 2026.

The role is expected to be largely remote, although the working arrangements are still being finalised. Candidates should therefore indicate whether they are available for occasional or regular attendance at the London office, or whether they are seeking a fully remote position.

If you have a strong legal operations background and are available for a new interim opportunity, please get in touch with your CV, availability and day-rate expectations.

We're working with an exceptional international law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Legal Assistant to support its expanding Munich office.

The firm is highly regarded for its work in complex patent litigation and intellectual property disputes, advising major international businesses across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, technology, chemistry and engineering.

This is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing team, working closely with lawyers in Munich and colleagues in London, while enjoying a role that offers considerably more variety than traditional legal secretarial support.

You'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the Munich practice, providing high-quality support to lawyers while also contributing to the wider administration and development of the office.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated administrative support to lawyers, including diary and inbox management.
  • Coordinating meetings, court hearings, travel arrangements and associated logistics.
  • Preparing, amending and filing legal documents, including submissions to the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA).
  • Supporting the billing process and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assisting with pitches, presentations and business development activities.
  • Supporting the organisation of client events and other firm initiatives.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for the Munich office and assisting with wider office administration.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked as Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries or legal support professionals within litigation or patent prosecution teams.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience supporting lawyers within a law firm or patent practice.
  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confidence managing competing priorities and working independently.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and an interest in taking on a varied role.

Experience with DPMADirektPro would be an advantage, although it isn't essential.

What makes this role particularly attractive is the combination of an internationally recognised practice and the opportunity to become part of a Munich office that is continuing to develop.

You'll work alongside highly regarded lawyers on sophisticated international matters, with exposure to both litigation and patent-related work. The role also offers the chance to contribute beyond traditional legal support, becoming involved in business development, events and the wider operation of the office.

For someone who enjoys being relied upon, taking ownership of their work and having variety in their day, this could be a particularly interesting next move.
