Intellectual Property Legal Assistant
We're working with an exceptional international law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Legal Assistant to support its expanding Munich office.
The firm is highly regarded for its work in complex patent litigation and intellectual property disputes, advising major international businesses across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, technology, chemistry and engineering.
This is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing team, working closely with lawyers in Munich and colleagues in London, while enjoying a role that offers considerably more variety than traditional legal secretarial support.
You'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the Munich practice, providing high-quality support to lawyers while also contributing to the wider administration and development of the office.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated administrative support to lawyers, including diary and inbox management.
- Coordinating meetings, court hearings, travel arrangements and associated logistics.
- Preparing, amending and filing legal documents, including submissions to the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA).
- Supporting the billing process and maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting with pitches, presentations and business development activities.
- Supporting the organisation of client events and other firm initiatives.
- Acting as a key point of contact for the Munich office and assisting with wider office administration.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked as Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries or legal support professionals within litigation or patent prosecution teams.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience supporting lawyers within a law firm or patent practice.
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
- Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confidence managing competing priorities and working independently.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- A collaborative, proactive approach and an interest in taking on a varied role.
Experience with DPMADirektPro would be an advantage, although it isn't essential.
What makes this role particularly attractive is the combination of an internationally recognised practice and the opportunity to become part of a Munich office that is continuing to develop.
You'll work alongside highly regarded lawyers on sophisticated international matters, with exposure to both litigation and patent-related work. The role also offers the chance to contribute beyond traditional legal support, becoming involved in business development, events and the wider operation of the office.
For someone who enjoys being relied upon, taking ownership of their work and having variety in their day, this could be a particularly interesting next move.
