Legal Counsel - Fintech
A leading global fintech is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its London legal team.
This is a broad, commercially focused role for an experienced payments regulatory lawyer looking to take on a high level of responsibility within a fast-paced international business. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across commercial, product, treasury, financial partnerships and compliance functions, advising on the regulatory aspects of existing operations, new product launches and international expansion.
The role will involve:
- Advising on UK and international payments regulation and the wider financial services regulatory landscape.
- Supporting regulatory engagement, including licensing matters, applications and ongoing supervisory relationships.
- Providing legal input on the development and launch of new products, services and payment solutions.
- Advising on regulatory change and helping the business respond to evolving legal requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Supporting market expansion initiatives, including assessing regulatory frameworks and licensing strategies in new territories.
- Delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice on a broad range of strategic and cross-border projects.
About you:
- Qualified solicitor/lawyer with 5+ years' PQE, gained in private practice and/or in-house.
- Strong experience advising on payments regulation, licensing and financial services regulatory matters.
- Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders and managing complex matters with minimal supervision.
- Able to balance legal risk with commercial objectives and provide clear, practical advice in a dynamic environment.
- Fintech, payments or financial services experience is advantageous but not essential.

The role covers equity derivatives, LMA based margin lending and strategic equity financing, with exposure to legal, regulatory and commercial matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise on transactions from inception through to execution.
- Draft and negotiate complex documentation.
- Advise on equity derivatives, margin loans and security arrangements.
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks.
- Work closely with business, compliance and international legal teams.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with 4+ years' PQE.
- Strong derivatives experience, ideally including OTC equity derivatives and ISDA documentation or loans, particularly margin loans experience.

We're looking for an experienced Contract Lawyer to join the Legal team supporting the Equity Solutions business of a leading investment bank.
Based on the trading floor and working closely with front-office, credit and other stakeholders, you'll advise on sophisticated transactions for clients looking to finance, hedge, build or monetise strategic positions in listed equities.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of transactions, including margin lending, equity derivatives (options, collars, forwards and total return swaps), stake-building transactions, fund financing and prime finance.
You'll be involved throughout the transaction lifecycle, with responsibilities including:
* Advising on the structuring and execution of complex equity financing and derivatives transactions
* Providing transaction management and legal risk advice to the business
* Working closely with the front office, Credit and other control functions through the credit committee and approval process
* Reviewing and coordinating legal opinions and other transaction conditions
* Advising on security, enforcement and potential enforcement routes where required
This is a highly commercial role offering direct exposure to the trading floor and complex, high-value transactions, with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals across Equities, Credit and Legal.
