Business Acceptance Analyst

UK&I - London
Permanent
Up to £50k

We are working with a highly regarded independent City law firm to recruit a Business Acceptance Analyst into its established Risk Management team.

The firm advises a global client base across areas including private capital, private wealth, corporate transactions and disputes. It combines high-quality, complex work with a collegiate and supportive culture, and is known for investing significantly in the development of its people.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AML and conflicts professional with at least one year of experience gained within a law firm to join a friendly and collaborative Business Acceptance team.

The role will focus on managing the risks associated with new clients and matters, including conflicts, customer due diligence, sanctions, reputational risk and the use of client account. You will work closely with partners, fee-earners and colleagues across the firm, providing practical and commercially focused advice.

Responsibilities will include conducting and analysing conflict searches, identifying potential conflicts and confidentiality issues, and advising on the steps required to resolve or escalate them.

You will undertake customer due diligence on new and existing clients, reviewing complex ownership structures, trusts and special purpose vehicles, and assessing source of wealth and source of funds. You will determine whether standard or enhanced due diligence is required, review supporting documentation and approve or escalate new matters as appropriate.

The role will also involve conducting PEP, sanctions and adverse-risk screening; completing and reviewing client and matter risk assessments; supporting information barrier arrangements; and advising fee-earners on AML, conflicts, sanctions and reputational risk considerations.

You will assist with client account queries and compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules, undertake file audits, maintain accurate client and matter information and support the wider team with compliance training, induction sessions and ad hoc projects.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A minimum of one year's experience working in AML, conflicts or business acceptance within a law firm
  • Experience analysing and resolving conflicts and confidentiality issues
  • Working knowledge of UK AML legislation and relevant legal-sector guidance
  • Experience conducting customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence
  • An understanding of sanctions, PEPs and other high-risk categories
  • The ability to analyse complex corporate structures, trusts and SPVs
  • Strong written, analytical and communication skills
  • Confidence communicating with partners and senior fee-earners
  • A commercial, practical and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience using Intapp Open would be advantageous

This is a varied and responsible role within a supportive team where you will be encouraged to contribute, develop your technical knowledge and build a long-term career in legal risk and compliance.
