Lending Lawyer | Legal Counsel

We are partnered with a global financial institution looking for a Legal Counsel to join their EMEA acquisition and leveraged finance business, including private credit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical legal guidance on leveraged and acquisition financings, including both loan (predominantly) and high yield structures
  • Supporting private credit, unitranche, and infrastructure lending transactions
  • Reviewing legal due diligence reports and advising on transaction structuring
  • Coordinating and reviewing external counsel output, including legal opinions

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified lawyer in England & Wales (or another common law jurisdiction with UK practice experience) - ideally 2PQE+
  • Strong experience in leveraged and acquisition finance, gained in private practice or in-house
  • Familiarity with a range of lending products, including private credit, general lending, and secondary loan trading
  • Working knowledge of LMA documentation (great but not vital)
  • Exposure to cross-border transactions, ideally including high yield components
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex financing documentation
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment

While the core focus is leveraged finance, there is opportunity for exposure beyond just lev fin. There is scope to work across adjacent products and teams, including debt capital markets, M&A advisory, and hedging transactions - but only if broadening scope was of interest.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with strong employment law and disputes experience.
  • Experience handling investigations and contentious matters, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to advise on sensitive, high-risk issues.
  • Commercially minded with excellent judgement.
  • Experience in financial services and/or multi-jurisdictional work is advantageous.

We are working with a leading global financial institution looking to recruit a Legal Counsel into their Markets Legal team in London.

This role sits within a cross-asset group focused on complex structured solutions across OTC derivatives, with particular exposure to emerging markets, FX, and rates. The team works closely with sales and trading as well as with key stakeholders throughout the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structure and execute complex OTC derivatives across FX, rates, and cross-asset products
  • Develop tailored solutions for clients, including those in emerging markets
  • Partner with sales and trading to originate and deliver structured opportunities
  • Manage transaction lifecycle from pricing through execution and post-trade
  • Maintain strong awareness of market dynamics, risk, and regulatory considerations

Requirements:

Senior Legal Counsel - Equity Derivatives

Our client, a leading financial institution, is looking for a Senior Lawyer with strong Equity derivatives experience to join the legal team in London.

The successful candidate will partner closely with the Equities business, providing strategic legal support across a diverse range of products and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the business on the structuring, negotiation, documentation, and execution of equity products, with a particular focus on:

  • Equity derivatives (including strategic solutions and flow products)
  • Cash and synthetic prime brokerage
  • Equity margin loans and NAV-based fund finance

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of prior experience in either private practice or within a leading investment bank. Demonstrated expertise across equity derivatives margin lending is a pre-requisite for the role.

Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks impacting equities businesses.

Experience managing or mentoring junior lawyers is advantageous.
