Senior Legal Counsel - Equity Derivatives

Our client, a leading financial institution, is looking for a Senior Lawyer with strong Equity derivatives experience to join the legal team in London.

The successful candidate will partner closely with the Equities business, providing strategic legal support across a diverse range of products and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the business on the structuring, negotiation, documentation, and execution of equity products, with a particular focus on:

  • Equity derivatives (including strategic solutions and flow products)
  • Cash and synthetic prime brokerage
  • Equity margin loans and NAV-based fund finance

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of prior experience in either private practice or within a leading investment bank. Demonstrated expertise across equity derivatives margin lending is a pre-requisite for the role.

Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks impacting equities businesses.

Experience managing or mentoring junior lawyers is advantageous.

A leading global financial institution is seeking a junior to mid-level regulatory lawyer to join its Markets Legal team. The role sits within an advisory function supporting derivatives and funding businesses, working closely with trading, structuring, and compliance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on regulatory frameworks impacting derivatives and financing transactions

  • Support implementation of regulatory change across documentation and business processes

  • Provide guidance on clearing, margin, and reporting obligations

  • Review and develop legal documentation, including clearing agreements and terms of business

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across legal, compliance, and front office

  • Contribute to internal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks

Experience Required

  • Qualified lawyer with approximately 3+ years' experience

  • Strong knowledge of derivatives and/or financing products

  • Familiarity with key regulatory regimes (e.g. EMIR, MiFID, prudential and US regulatory frameworks)

  • Understanding of margin requirements and capital/netting considerations

  • Experience with regulatory implementation projects and documentation
