Contract Employment Lawyer - International Investment Bank (London)
Our client a major international investment bank is seeking a highly skilled Contract Employment Lawyer to join its international HR Legal function, supporting businesses across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East & Africa (MEA).
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer who wants to work at the forefront of financial services in a truly global environment.
The successful candidate will join a London-based Employment Law team, providing strategic and practical advice across multiple jurisdictions.
You will:
Report into the Head of Banking & International HR Legal
Form part of a Global HR Legal function
Advise senior stakeholders across Legal, HR, Employee Relations, Compliance, and the business
Handle both contentious and non-contentious matters in the UK and MEA region
What You'll Do
You will manage a diverse and high-impact caseload, including:
Managing employment litigation and coordinating with external counsel
Providing day-to-day employment law advice to HR, ER, Compliance, and senior management
Supporting performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, and disputes
Advising on investigations and sensitive regulatory matters
Supporting data privacy-related employment issues
Drafting and advising on employment contracts, compensation, and benefits
Advising on contingent workers, employment status, and disputes
Supporting restructurings, RIFs, and workforce actions in the UK and MEA
Working closely with senior lawyers to develop legal strategy and risk mitigation

Key requirements:
Extensive knowledge of UK employment law
Proven experience advising clients in the UK market
Strong litigation management background
Experience reviewing investigations and delivering training
Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team
Prior in-house experience, financial services exposure, or overseas work is highly desirable
Required Background
6-10 years' post-qualification experience
Law degree (or equivalent)
Current practising certificate - England & Wales
