Legal Negotiator - Investment Banking Client (Markets Documentation) - interim contract
We are partnering with a global Investment Banking client to recruit a commercially sharp Legal Negotiator, supporting one of their Investment Banking Markets divisions. This role sits at the intersection of legal, regulatory and front-office trading priorities, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to finalise complex trading documentation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading the negotiation and review of legal agreements with institutional counterparties, via phone and digital channels, to reach consensus on Investment Banking legal documentation.
Acting as a trusted liaison between the trading desks, internal business teams, and London Legal, ensuring deal flow and documentation priorities align with broader front-office objectives.
Demonstrating strong commercial judgement by prioritising workloads based on desk strategy, business goals and time-sensitive market activity.
Interpreting and applying key commercial terms across a wide range of industry-standard trading agreements, including:
ISDA Master Agreements & Credit Support Annexes (CSA)
GMRA, GMSLA
Account Control & Termination Agreements
NDAs and supporting master/ancillary documentation
Ensuring all agreements uphold internal governance and regulatory policies, while managing exceptions through formal risk, compliance and business approvals where required.
Applying regulatory and jurisdictional amendments to legal documentation in line with regional market and compliance requirements.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Prior experience negotiating derivatives and securities trading documentation within Investment Banking or Capital Markets
Strong knowledge of FX and Markets legal agreements
A commercially driven mindset with an ability to balance legal risk and trading priorities
Confidence in stakeholder engagement, including front-office trading teams and senior legal partners
Excellent communication skills for direct counterparty negotiation
