About the Role

A leading global bank is seeking a skilled Legal Counsel European and German financial services regulatory experience. You will support regulatory advice across a broad range of frameworks. There will be a mix of transactional, trading and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support drafting, negotiation, and execution of transactional and client documentation.

  • Provide guidance on EU and UK regulatory frameworks, including EMIR and MiFID II

  • Broader experience across hedging and financing structures, cross-border issues, and market structure developments is useful but not vital.
  • Partner with trading, sales, compliance, and other key stakeholders globally.

  • Assess legal and reputational risks and support new product development.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or another European jurisdiction).

  • Fluent German and English (written and spoken).

  • Minimum 3 years' PQE in financial regulation, specifically with EMIR, MiFID II.

  • Experience with regulatory and transactional work in a financial institution or top law firm.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly.

  • Proactive, organised, and effective at managing competing priorities.

Sole Derivatives Lawyer

We are partnered with a small international bank who are seeking a lawyer to join their legal team. This will be covering a very broad range of derivatives work across all asset classes. Different to other similar in-house roles you will have a lot of opportunity to be involved with other legal matters across other areas such as DCM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate OTC derivatives documentation, including ISDAs, CSAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs and related agreements.
  • Advise on capital markets transactions, including derivatives, collateral and financing arrangements for structured bond issuances.
  • Support derivatives related policy development, regulatory initiatives and broader in-house legal matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders and collaborate with internal teams across Risk, Compliance, and Client Coverage.
  • Liaise with external counsel and advisors to manage transactional and regulatory matters effectively.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer with 2-10 years' post-qualification experience gained in a leading law firm or major financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA derivatives markets and the associated legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience negotiating complex derivatives and capital markets documentation.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skills, with a proactive and pragmatic approach.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
